Animal & Dog Bite

In most animal and dog bite cases, the owner is responsible for the actions of their pet regardless of whether the attack occurs in a public park, in the street, or in a private home. No dog bite is minor. They all require medical attention and even small bites from small dogs can lead to serious personal injury.

Victims of dog attacks often have to seek treatment from physical therapists and plastic surgeons. Emotional damage as a result of a bit is quite common, and can result in post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as a significant fear of animals.

While dog bites can cause serious physical and emotional scars, not all attacks involve bites. Serious injuries can occur when dogs jump on people or knock people over when trying to attack another dog, resulting in broken hips, arms and wrists. In these cases, different laws apply, but the dog owner may still be responsible.

If you are attacked by a dog, make sure to obtain the identity of the owner.  If they refuse to identify themselves, get as much information as you can.  You should immediately obtain medical attention, and contact animal control.  Taking photos and obtaining witnesses can be very helpful.

Naimark Law Firm can help you determine ownership of the dog and pursue the compensation that you deserve for damages suffered.
